The Mexican soccer team is looking to get close to the Octaves of the Russian FIFA World Cup 2018 when this Saturday at the Rostov Arena faces its similar from South Korea.
Mexico is all
celebration after their national Soccer
team defeated the defending champion
Germany by a score of 1-0. Few gave hope to the team led by Juan Carlos Osorio,
but thanks to a goal by Hirving "Chucky" Lozano in the first half, El
Tri came out of its first game of Russia
2018 with the victory.
In the face of South
Korea, Mexico has a significant opportunity to take control of its group.
The Koreans come to fall in their Soccer
World Cup match against Sweden, in a match that was defined with a penalty
goal by Andreas Granqvist. Should they lose to Mexico, the Koreans would
virtually be sealing their elimination from the 2018 Football World Cup.
The only previous antecedent that exists between these two
teams in a FIFA World Cup was at the
1998 World Cup in France. The stage was the Stade de Gerland in Lyon, where the
Mexicans ended up taking the victory by a score of 3-1. Curiously, there are
several similarities between this team from Mexico to 1998. Both teams came to
their respective World Cup with many doubts, and in the case of the 1998 team,
they managed to silence mouths. At least against Germany, this Mexican team has
shown that it has the potential to achieve something similar.
The reality is that before starting this tournament, the
selection of South Korea was already going through a bad time. For the 2018 Soccer World Cup, the Koreans had
lost two of their four preparation matches. In all, South Korea has just one
victory in its last seven games. The bad news is that the numbers of the
Koreans are even worse in the World Cup, because they have seven World Cup
matches without knowing the victory.
